Chinese Jade Bi Pendant- Museum Collection
Perforated circular disks known as bi
served as important ceremonial objects in ancient Chinese culture.
This pendant disk (2" diam.) copied from a specimen in the museum
collection, is beautifully hand carved in jade and the bead in
carnelian, and wrapped and hung on a silk cord. Jade itself is
believed by the Chinese to have magical powers and is very lucky to
wear symbolizing protection against illness. (Note: Individual
jade disks may vary in color.)
